Brief History
:-Started in 1959 July as an extension to
SCB Medical College, Cuttack. In 1960, 15th
October named as Govt. Medical College,
Burla with joining of 1st
Principal Prof. Radhanath Mishra, MBBS, LTM,
FRCS, Urologist (London).
After which its expansion has taken place in
different phases. The total population of
the Districts of Sambalpur, Bargarh,
Bolangir, Sonepur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda,
Kalahandi, Nuapara, Sundergarh,Koraput,
Malkangiri, Nowarangpur of orissa, four
Districts of Chattisgarh and two districts
of Jharkhand are depending on this Hospital
and such up to date Health facilities need
to be extended to the general public.In the
college & Hospital the Under graduates,
House Surgeons, Post Graduates and
Paramedical Training Courses are being
given. Besides these ,training to the Nurses
and Pharmacists are also being given.
V.S.S.Medical college & Hospital,Named
after great freedom fighter Veer Surendrasai
in 1969 / 1970.
V.S.S. Medical College has been spread over
total of 77 plots of land having a
cumulative The hospital came in to being during
1960. Now it is having
superspecialised Department like the
Nuerosergery, Neurology, Cardiology
and G.U.Surgery department in
addition to other specialised
Departments.
The
superintendent is the Administrative head of the
hospital and the following officers are there to
add and assist him in different sphere of the
administration of the hospital. |
